From Global Mandate to Local Vision: Facilitating MUW's Brand Refresh Process

With United Way Worldwide (UWW)'s release of its new brand strategy, United Way sites worldwide have been asked to align their branding accordingly. Rather than make public-facing decisions in a silo, Monadnock United Way (MUW) asked BHII to help design a participatory revisioning process. Over the course of 2025, we:

  1. Established a Refresh Committee of grant recipients, Board members, donors, and service providers with a stake in Monadnock United Way's work.

  2. Audited their current initiatives and indicators, mapping them onto UWW's new impact areas to identify alignment and gaps.

  3. Engaged the Committee in a series of meetings using the Estimate-Talk-Estimate (ETE) method, a variation on RAND's Delphi method, to draft language describing the organization's vision, outcomes, and strategies for their best-aligned impact areas.

  4. Worked with the Committee to determine the open data measures MUW will use to monitor and communicate the needs its initiatives address.

You can read more about the process, and see the final result, in the slide deck below.
