An interactive dashboard of survey results for Granite United Way's Child Care Business and Employer Partnership Project

In 2023, the Behavioral Health Improvement Institute at Keene State College (BHII) partnered with Granite United Way on the Child Care Business and Employer Partnership Project (CCBEPP), a NH Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)-funded initiative to design, implement, and assess five statewide pilot projects aimed at making child care more equitable and affordable for New Hampshire employers and employees. To inform pilot design, BHII conducted two surveys examining child care access, affordability, and workplace accommodations. Over 1,000 eligible respondents participated. Key findings include:

  • Over half of employee respondents expressed concerns about the affordability of child care, despite most reporting a household income above the state's median.

  • Employee respondents most frequently endorsed backup, emergency, and/or on-site child care as critical supports.

  • Employers most frequently reported a predictable work schedule, the ability to call out of work for last-minute emergencies, and maternity leave as the supports they most frequently provide.

BHII visualized the survey results in a publicly facing dashboard so that employees, employers, and policymakers could explore the data at will. You can view the dashboard here, and a summary of the survey results below.
